Mike Curb began Curb Records in 1964, although the original name for the label was “Sidewalk.” During the past 40 plus years he has recorded move soundtracks (including Coyote Ugly) and hits in the rock, pop, R&B, contemporary Christian and country music fields. Curb was named “Producer of the Year” by Billboard Magazine in 1972 after producing a string of hits on the Osmonds, Donny and Marie, and Sammy Davis, Jr. The Curb label is currently home to Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina, Steve Holy (“Brand New Girlfriend”), LeAnn Rimes and Rodney Atkins (“If You’re Going Through Hell”).
Don Cusic has been teaching music business courses at Belmont University since 1994; prior to that time he was at MTSU for twelve years, making this his 25th year of teaching about the Music Business. In 2007 his biography of Gene Autry is scheduled to be released as well as a book he has written with Mike Curb, Living the Business.
