Would you like to study abroad in China and Japan this summer from May 29th through June 16th? When? May 29 to June 16, 2006
Where? Students will visit Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka) and China (Hong Kong, etc.), spending 8-9 days in each country.
Courses Offered: (1) Copyright & Piracy in China & Japan (3 credits). This course will provide an overview of copyright law in China and Japan as well as an examination of the degree of piracy in these countries, contrasting the massive piracy rate in China with the modest piracy rate in Japan. Students will examine how the history, culture, political systems and economies of China & Japan have influenced their views about copyright & piracy; (2) Japanese Literature and History (3 credits). This course will introduce students to Japanese culture, literature, history, and language. Both courses will include some traditional classroom type activities, but will also include trips, guest speakers, and other interactive activities designed to take advantage of the unique setting & to allow student’s to experience Asian culture.
What Will It Cost? Estimated cost: $5200. Includes travel costs (airfare, etc.), accommodations & tuition for 1 course. Exact costs are subject to change based on the number of students that enroll. Some meals and entertainment expenses are not included.
Why This Is A Good Deal? For summer study abroad courses, Belmont offers a two-thirds tuition discount (i.e., you pay 1/3 of the tuition for a summer course at Belmont) which offsets a substantial part of the travel costs.
