(Nashville, Tenn.) October 25, 2011—Belmont University is pleased to announce Joe Galante and Clint Higham, key members of Kenny Chesney’s advisory team, as guests at the next Insider’s View seminar on Wednesday November 2nd, at 6:30pm in Belmont’s Massey Performing Arts Center. Co-sponsored by Avenue Bank and moderated by Harry Chapman, the evening’s panel discussion will revolve around the importance of building a team of trusted advisors in the entertainment industry. The entertainment industry community is invited to attend.
“While Galante and Higham will speak primarily about their advisory roles for artists, exploring the necessity of building a team of trusted advisors applies to all Curb College students. Aspiring artists and entrepreneurs will inevitably need the advice of experts in legal matters, marketing, finance, technology, and management, while other students are studying to serve in those very same advisory roles,” explains Sarah Cates, Sr. Director of Curb College Initiatives.
Joe Galante, who stepped down from his post as chairman of Sony Music Nashville last spring after 39 years with the label family, helped launch the careers of Alabama, Clint Black, Kenny Chesney, Sara Evans, The Judds, Lonestar, Martina McBride, K.T. Oslin, Kellie Pickler, Carrie Underwood, Keith Whitley, Chris Young and many more, while his leadership bolstered the careers of such superstars as Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert and Brad Paisley.
A native of northern California and Belmont alum, Clint Higham knew from an early age that his calling was in the country music industry. Currently serving as President, Clint has been with Morris Artists Management for 17 years. He manages the careers of Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, Jake Owen, Blaine Larsen, Louise Mandrell, and newcomer Sam Hunt.
Belmont’s partnership with Avenue Bank began earlier this fall with the offering of A Study in Personal Finance & Banking in Relation to the Music Industry, a unique course for entrepreneurs in the music and entertainment industries taught by the Avenue Bank Music & Entertainment Team. The course covers banking and personal finance, including loan examples and case studies that are music industry specific.
Presented by The Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business at Belmont University, the Insider’s View seminar series merges educational application with real world experience. Guests from the entertainment industry present topics relevant to their field in a conversational setting. The program is produced and set-up by Belmont students, giving them hands-on experience in the business.
